The outlook for phlebotomists is very good. According to a report from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, phlebotomists are in very high demand. The demand is highest for those working day shifts, as they have become the most difficult position to fill. The demand is expected to increase, but to level out in the near future, as simpler diagnostic tests will make it easier for one person to do several jobs.

The average salary of a Phlebotomist varies as to their employment as well, and also according to the area in which they work. Some of them make minimum wage or just above, while others may make $40,000 or more a year.

Research shows in the wake of the events of September 11, 2001, new focus was given to the amount of blood available in the nation’s blood bank. Since then, there is a need for people who are knowledgeable in this area. Salary ranges of a phlebotomist vary from one state to another. A phlebotomist may be self-employed or work with a variety of medical institutions and either way the pay is good provided that the person is knowledgeable of said field.
